Encapsulation method development of bioactive compounds and their derivatives

Duration Months 8-30

Objectives

Part of managing the spread of invasive species is the creation of a new natural marine resource from the bioactive compounds they contain. The purpose of the WP5 is to study the ways in which these bioactive compounds are utilized and introduced into final value-added products in the food and cosmetology sectors. The development of such innovative formulations will be followed by the following activities: i) Isolation of target compounds by extraction using ionic liquids, and solvent systems suitable for food and cosmetics, by extraction in the presence of microwaves and / or ultrasound; and ii) Encapsulation of target substances through the electrohydrodynamic process and spray drying in natural matrices, such as oligosaccharides.
