As part of the Explias Research Project, osmotically processed sea buckthorn juice was prepared, to which freeze-dried collagen and powder of encapsulated structures of Omega-3 fatty acids were added. These were isolated from biomass of invasive alien species (IAS) from the Greek sea.
The final cosmeceutical formulation was developed by following the methodology for creating a base cream (oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion) with the incorporation of bioactive ingredients (tetrodotoxin, collagen, and fatty acids) encapsulated in zein, in powder form (nanoparticles). The final product developed is an anti-aging cream with deep moisturizing properties.
